Protection of Minors at the College Church

The Archdiocese of St. Louis's Prevent and Protect STL - Safe Environment Program requires all Archdiocesan clergy, religious order clergy, and adult employees, as well as all volunteers who work with or near minors and/or vulnerable adults, to comply with the following policy requirements:

  • Attend a Protecting God's Children live workshop.

  • Understand and sign the Archdiocese's Code of Ethical Conduct for Clergy, Employees, and Volunteers Working in Ministry.

  • View two online training modules regarding abuse reporting and relevant topics from the Code of Ethical Conduct.

  • Complete a national criminal record check and agree to regular updates.

All Archdiocesan clergy, religious order clergy, and adult employees, as well as all volunteers who work with or near minors and/or vulnerable adults, are required to register at preventandprotectstl.org. Please contact our parish’s Child Safety Coordinator, Terry Edelmann, with any questions or for further assistance.

REPORTING INFORMATION FOR MINORS WHO ARE VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE

If you believe that you, or someone you know, has been abused by a Jesuit, you are urged to contact the appropriate law enforcement or child-protection agency in the location in which the incident took place.

You are also urged to advise the Jesuits by calling James Appelbaum, the Safeguarding Coordinator for the Jesuits. He can be reached confidentially by phone at 314.915.7168 or by email at UCSSafeMinistry@jesuits.org.

If you believe you, or someone you know, has been a victim of abuse involving an Archdiocesan priest, lay employee, or volunteer, you are urged to first report the abuse to the appropriate civil authority:

If you become aware that a child or vulnerable adult is in danger of imminent abuse, call 911 immediately.

To report the historical abuse of an adult survivor who was victimized as a child by an Archdiocesan priest, lay employee, or volunteer, please call the Office of Child and Youth Protection at 314.792.7704. The Archdiocese of St. Louis encourages adult victims to report historical crimes of abuse to the authorities and will support and assist individuals in doing so. The Archdiocese will cooperate fully with any investigation that may result and continue to provide support to the individual.
